Taleas is a cute, quirky, silly, goofy, and witty web comic created by me, Seth Black. Taleas is inspired by my own life and represents large parts of my personality such as my love for airplanes, robots, machine learning, computer programming, math, science, space, the paranormal, ufos, psychology, relationships, and having worked at a bunch of tech startups since the late '90s.
Web comics differ from traditional comics in that web comics are almost exclusively published online. web comics also tend to have a much broader range of topics than comic books or traditionally drawn comics that one would find in the newspaper.
Taleas officially started late October of 2008. The website was launched December 7th 2010, so that is taleas' official birthday.
I like the word, I think it sounds cool and my first character was a stick figure.
Overly technical answer: Taleas is a Latin word that means rod or stick, and it is in the plural accusative form.
I pronounce it "tally-us", but I'm from Texas and we're known for sayin' stuff a little diff'rent.
That's the taleas logo. I've loved airplanes since I was a child, and I feel like the sketch makes a cool looking logo.
That's a custom font I made specifically for taleas. It's called "Hand of Seth" and it's currently on version 3.
I do! Hurry over to the taleas merch shop.
EEK is my friend Emily! She has helped me redraw a large chunk of my backlog. Basically, she's a better artist than I could ever dream of being; so I give her the stuff I can't do. Any comic with EEK on the bottom was drawn by her.
